This week we begin a series of teachings on how we see, hear, respond to, and interact with our Lord in times of worship. We will look at our personal lifestyle of worship to Him, as well as the moments we come together to worship Him corporately. Today we will start with the lifestyle of worship to lay a foundation for the next few weeks.
When we talk about living a life of worship to King Jesus, it is all about honoring Him with the motives of our hearts, our words, and our actions. Honoring Him comes from a heart of love for Him. It all comes from our love relationship with Him. There are no shortcuts to living a lifestyle that is full of His Presence, His power, and pleasing to Him. We must KNOW Him heart to heart. We can’t afford to just know about Him (to only have mental ascent of Him and His Word). (Ephesians 1:17)
Living a life of worship is loving Him with all our heart, our mind, and our strength. (Mark 12:30) Living a life of worship is acknowledging Him in all our ways. (Proverbs 3:6) Living a life of worship is being aware of His Presence at all times and making the most of every opportunity. (Ephesians 5:15-16)
Because our precious Redeemer laid His life down for us, we are able to offer ourselves to Him as this living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Him–this is our spiritual act of worship. We are no longer conformed to the patterns of this world, but we are transformed into His likeness by the renewing of our minds. (Romans 12:1-2) We are made new by spending time with Him; in His Presence and in His Word. It is only out of this intimacy with Him that we can truly live this extravagant life of worship–this life that brings glory to our King!
I pray that as we continue to come close to His heart, that our hearts would be teachable, and that we would look more like Him everday. That we would carry His fragrance with us wherever we go, and that this world would get a taste of the goodness of our God!
For the King and the Kingdom! Tammy
