3 Nights of Worship

Hi All!

You are probably wondering why you haven’t heard from me yet concerning the Worship in the Park for this year Smilie: :) As we have been asking the Lord what He has for this season, He has led us with His peace to have one large, multi-generational, multi-cultural gathering this summer.

We are looking at three nights of consecutive worship being held at the Life Church MV campus. We will begin Thursday night, August 22nd at 7pm, continue on Friday night the 23rd at 7pm, and conclude with Saturday the 24th, at 7pm. We will gather with no agenda other than His agenda Smilie: :)

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of Him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.” 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 NIV

The Wonders of His Love — Open Heaven Conference 2013

Please let me tell of the wonders of His love, of His grace, and of His goodness! He is exalted above all, and He has done great things! The fruit of my lips give thanks and my heart swells with gratitude for His loving-kindness! How great is the love that He has lavished on us! “Jesus, You are beautiful and Your love is deeper, higher, and wider than we can fathom! That we would know You…that we would know Your love and the depths of Your heart! Our Wonderful, Beautiful, Radiant Jesus!”

I need to recount His love and tell of His wonders in is His Presence at this years Open Heaven Conference. The atmosphere was thick with the manifest Presence and love of Jesus as we gathered in His Name! His people are His holy habitation, His dwelling place, and He came with His love, His grace, and His glory.

His people were on His heart…they always are. The all-consuming fire of His love came to take away pain and mend broken hearts, broken lives, and broken bodies:

As the song of the Lord was released over her, and as she begin to sing in harmony with His song, the back brace that a woman had worn since fracturing her back in April became very uncomfortable. She had to remove the brace as His song and His love was healing her.

The breath of God was released and brought life back to an unborn child in the womb. His love bringing hope and peace to the mother.

The goodness and love of Papa God was evident as several legs and an arm grew out, as addictions were uprooted, and destinies were awakened in His people as the Word of the Lord was released over their lives.

Right in the middle of the beautiful Presence of Jesus, a man received a phone call that a house became available for his family that was without a home.

A woman who had been held in bondage to unforgiveness, forgave, and found freedom to dance with her Lord…abandoned to Him and full of joy in His Presence!

Hearts were knit together as the Spirit of Jesus brought unity that only He can bring. His songs set the captives free. His fragrance spreads the knowledge of Him everywhere. His love calls people by name and releases them into their God-given destinies. His power made available in us, for us, and through us who believe.

We proclaim Jesus Christ!

There is no other name by which we are saved. There is no other name in Heaven, on earth, or beneath the earth that can compare to the Name of JESUS! At the Name of Jesus, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord! He is Supreme–He is Love–He is the Lamb–He is King!

Stuck in the Status Quo? Part 3

I so long for the Presence of our Lord Jesus to be honored above ALL else; above our intellects, above our reasonings, above our modes and methods, above past success, above the circumstances around us, above our time restraints, above our selfishness, above our voice being heard, and above the fear of what others think of us. Being in the worship ministry for 20 years, as well as ministering through song since age 12, I have heard and experienced all the above, and more.

It is the heart cry, the tahilah, that God is waiting to hear. In Hebrew, this is the term for praise that refers to the extemporaneous, spontaneous praise of YOUR heart being released to Him. THIS is the kind of praise that He inhabits, that He dwells in. He has deposited His Spirit in us. He has written His Word on the tablets of our hearts. Out of the abundance of our hearts our mouths speak. Out of our bellies will flow rivers of Living Water…if we open our mouths and release it. Obedience is better than sacrifice, and it opens the windows of Heaven.

We need to guard our hearts with all diligence and continue to honor His Presence above every other “voice” that clamours for our attention. I desire that we are found only where He is. That our hearts are engaged and responding to His voice alone. That we will let God be God, and Jesus be King, and not try to conform them into our image(s) by shoving them into our boxes of comfort. For we are not to have any other images or gods before Him. He is the Lamb of God, the Lion of Judah, the King of glory, and the Lord of all…and He is worthy of ALL glory, ALL honor, and ALL praise!

If He is our focus and our hearts are set on Him, then all expressions of worship will honor Him as He has purposed for them to. Together, all expressions of worship point the way to His Throne, if we allow Him full liberty to lead the way. The choice is ours. If we say “yes” to Him, He will help us overcome every fear and distraction that disables us from abandoning ourselves completely to Him. Then, we will boldly go with Him beyond the status quo of conformity and comfort, where we have not yet gone before.

Stuck in the Status Quo? Part 2

When we feel we need a certain song structure or musical genre to enable us to connect to God, the order of the service to be just the way we like it, or the need for words on a screen to be able to worship Him, we limit the Presence of Jesus to be fully manifest by putting him in our man-made boxes. Some of these avenues can be a great spring-board, or launching pad in connecting us with Him, especially for those who have just come into the “family”. But we can’t allow ourselves to become stagnant in convenience, or comfort–keeping our hearts sensitive to Him; awake, alert, and engaged….wherever He is leading us!

A question to ponder…how do you worship Him in your private times when there is no one around to see or hear? Only an audience of One–the only One that matters.

When we come together to worship, are we coming to engage with and experience the Living God…pouring out our heart to Him and drawing close to His heart for us? Or, are we coming to church or a gathering to perform our religious duty? Come just as you are. God doesn’t want your performance…He is longing for your heart. He wants ALL of you, not just the parts that sound good, or look good. What blesses the heart of God and many times what man views as pleasing (ear-tickling) are two different things entirely. Man-centered worship is pleasing to man. Christ-centered worship is pleasing to God.

He is desperately in love with you. He is jealous for you. And I am jealous for Him. I am jealous for His Presence to have His way in and through His people…it is a zealous jealousy that burns for Him.

Stuck in the Status Quo? Part 1

Our gathering a couple of Sundays ago has afforded a teaching and imparting opportunity that is way too valuable to let go. To break beyond the status quo of man-made forms of worship and boldly go where only your heart cry of unadulterated worship will take you…face to face at His Throne.

I had the rare opportunity to be running sound up in the tech booth as one of our other worship leaders had the lead for that Sunday. We were not able to get the projector and the computer to communicate after several attempts.

First of all, it makes me appreciate all that much more the gifts, talents, and expertise that the sound and video technicians hold to help facilitate the flow of worship in any given gathering. And not only facilitate, but when the techs are in tune with where Holy Spirit is leading, they can add great depth to what He is orchestrating. This is an art in and of itself.

Secondly, it was interesting from my vantage point to see the differing responses of the people in worship as the leading was done by word of mouth, without the aid of a projector. It is true we can’t always know the depth of a heart engaged with the Lord just by the outward expression of worship, but it brought me great joy to see the people outwardly engaging in His Presence regardless of the situation. They didn’t need words on a screen to tell them how to worship; it was coming from their hearts.

I thank God for His provision of technology to broadcast His voice in all forms of media. Like I said earlier, it has the great potential of enhancing our times with the Lord as we are gathered together as well. It is part of the creativity that He has poured out and is a very powerful tool He has placed in our hands. But in many ways, especially in the western church world, we have allowed it to disable us in approaching His Throne. It has been used as an external crutch that we have come to rely on, instead of listening for ourselves (out of relationship) where He wants to lead us. So what if the projector isn’t working, or the sound board goes off, or the power shuts down…we worship Him with everything that is in us!

Religious ritual and traditions show up in the oddest places; even what God meant to enhance our times of corporate worship, we take and make it the means to approach Him. God told Moses in Exodus 20:24-25, not to make an altar for Him out of dressed stones that had been cut by the tools of man. Rather, God wanted an altar of dirt…not defiled by man’s hands. He isn’t looking for your “polished” worship. He is looking and waiting for the cry of your heart to be released to Him. He is searching for those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth.

Conformity or Transformation — Pt.2 “Transformers!”

These “transformers” look and sound radically different from the “conformers”.They kind of stick out…like Jesus did. Of course, they would be obviously different…they are of another world, another kingdom altogether.

Jesus said, “My Kingdom is not of this world…” John 18:36a

“If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you DO NOT belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” John 15:19

“Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. {conformed} But our citizenship is in Heaven. {transformed} And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,” Philippians 3:19-20

“Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.” 1 Peter 2:11

I can’t help but think of the movie, “Transformers”, as a great illustration of this truth. In this story, these beings from another world come to earth to make right a situation for the good of the universe. While on earth their outward appearance is all shapes, makes, and models of different vehicles. But inside they are warriors, that when the battle demands, transform into the creation they were designed to be.

YOU are designed to be a transformer! You are a citizen of Heaven living on this earth. You carry Jesus in you, and He transforms you into all you were designed to be, as you yield to His craftsmanship. You carry the Kingdom of Heaven in you that changes the world around you.

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7

I challenge you today, friends, to allow yourself to be transformed as you yield to the perfect work of the Spirit of God in you. Transformed into the likeness of Jesus, bringing Heaven to earth as you accurately represent Him in all you say and do…liberating others from the bondage of conformity.

Conformity or Transformation? — Pt.1

“You mean I have a choice? I get to choose?” Yes we do. True Love never controls; the choice is always ours. The whole point of Father God giving us free will is because of His love for us, so that we can be free to choose…life or death, blessing or cursing, truth or lies, Heaven or hell, peace or striving, being conformed or transformed. It’s up to us.

“Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–His good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1-2

So, we choose to either be conformed to the patterns of this world, or we choose to be transformed to the patterns of Heaven. When people choose conformity, they choose to be molded by the world around them. (Sounds like bondage to me.) When people choose to be transformed, they choose to be renewed from the inside out and they change the world around them!

The hard shell of conformity to the patterns of this world block out the voice of our Heavenly Father. Those who choose conformity will not understand His voice, His heart, or His will. It’s hard to see or hear when you are cased in a shell of cement molded to look like everyone else!

On the other hand, those who choose to be transformed as they allow their minds to be renewed to the pattern of Heaven, will understand the voice, the heart, and the will of the Father. These are the burning ones that walk in the destiny God created them to walk in. Free to live in the economy of Heaven, and free to give it away!

Please Listen! Please Come…

In this season of shifting sand, I am eternally grateful that our hope does not rest in a man, political agendas, earthly governments, or the economic systems of this world. Our hope and salvation is Jesus Christ alone; He is the Lamb of God and the King of all! “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the Name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.” (Psalm 20:7-Smilie: 8)

The kingdoms that have been established by the hands of man, whether political, financial, or religious, are subject to the Kingdom of our God and King. The monuments that have been erected to selfish ambitions and vanities of man are crumbling. The kingdom of this world will become the Kingdom of our God and of His Christ. (Revelation 11:15) Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…He alone is Lord. (Philippians 2:9-11) He alone is King. He alone is the Ruler of the nations. He alone is the Hope for the nations. He alone reigns in justice, truth, and mercy. He is the Lamb of God Who is our only Salvation. He IS the Bread of Life. He is the Light of the world. He is our Rock and Fortress, our ever-present Help in times of trouble. His Kingdom is established in righteousness FOREVER, and His Word alone will eternally stand.

As a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, this loving and all-powerful King longs to gather you to Himself!!! (Matthew 23:37) He is beckoning, calling, imploring ALL to come to Him!! He IS the Answer you are looking for. He IS the Hope you need. He ALONE is your Truth and your Salvation. His heart yearns for you to be with Him!

He is saying, “Come to Me. Come to My table and partake of Me. Learn of Me, for My yoke is easy and My burden is light. I have made every provision for you through My life, that I gave for you. You will find rest for your weary soul and unlimited joy in My Presence. Stop striving in your own efforts and futility, and come. I will make known to you the path of life. I will fill you with joy in My Presence, and eternal pleasures at My right hand! I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. I Am the Door; the only way to the Father is through Me. I desire to share all of My Kingdom with you! Come, eat and drink of Me, fellowship and commune with Me. I am drawing you to Myself and leading you with cords of kindness and ties of love. I love you…how I desperately love you…please, come.”

I implore you to listen to His call and come to Him. I can’t even begin to describe the intensity of His heartache for you…His love for you. This temporal time is of the absolute essence, and eternity is NOW. Please, put your heart that wants to run to Him, above your head that tries to reason Him away…and come.

A Living Sacrifice — Pt. 2

“A new command I give you: Love one another. AS I have loved you, so you MUST love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”  John 13:34-35

How did Jesus love us? How does He love us? Unconditionally, sacrificially, completely. This is how we are to love one another…unconditionally, sacrificially, and completely.

When Jesus gave the above command, He was talking to His disciples as His children that He dearly loved, that He poured His life into, and now was getting ready to pour His life out for. You can hear the imploring of His heart as you read the passage starting in verse 33. “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for Me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now; Where I am going, you cannot come. A new command I give you: Love one another. AS I have loved you, so you MUST love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”  (John 13:33-35)

You can hear the imploring of the heart of Jesus to His disciples then, and to us, His disciples now…”You must, you MUST love one another…You must carry on My legacy. From all eternity past, before the creation of the world, to all eternity forward, I AM LOVE. This is the only way this world will know Me. As I go to be the Final Sacrifice as the full expression of My love, I entrust you to love AS I have loved you. Where I am going you cannot follow now, but you will follow later. I am going to prepare a place for you and all those who have found Me because you have loved the way I have loved you. Carry on, carry Me, carry My love. I have loved you, I have entrusted you to carry on. Let the world know Me by My love through you.”

This is His command, His standard, His absoluteness, His legacy that we carry on in the greater works that He has entrusted to us. This has been and will always be “the MOST excellent way”. (1 Corinthians 12:31b)
