(We pick up from last week’s teaching…
Wait on the Lord. Whether it be individually or in a corporate setting, we need to take time to tarry in His Presence. So often we hurry on to the next “thing” in our schedule or our services. We miss His heart and what He is trying to say to us. We need to listen with our spiritual ears to hear what He is saying. To see with our spiritual eyes to understand what He wants to release or activate. There have been many times I have felt the sadness of the Spirit of God because His Presence or His voice had been ignored. On several occasions I have stayed after a service was “over”, or waited a little longer in my personal time with Him because I felt His nudge and I lent myself to His prompting. These have been some of the most powerful times of Spirit-led worship, intercession and release. (Psalm 38:14-15, Psalm 130:5-6, Proverbs 8:34, Acts 1:4-5)
Be quiet and listen. In your private times with the Lord be quiet in His Presence and listen to what He is speaking to your heart. Put some “soaking” or instrumental worship music on, or just wait in silence, and listen to what He is saying, singing, declaring, or showing you. Then, release what He has spoken to you through song, shout, declaration, dance or other action. When in corporate worship the same principle applies. Be still and listen to what God is doing in and through the music, or in the silence. Sometimes I will stop singing and just listen. I start to hear what the instruments of Heaven are doing and will imitate them with my voice. Sometimes I will hear the heartbeat of God through the instruments and release that with my feet. I may hear a flow of words that God wants released on the earth and sing, shout, or declare those out. Many times this is accompanied by a dance or gesture that I see being released with those words. It is tuning into what God is doing in the moment and being His conduit on the earth! (Psalm 46:9-11, Psalm 131;1-3, Ecclesiastes 5:1, Isaiah 50:4-5)
Be motivated by the Fear of the Lord, and not the fear of man. The question that we need to continually ask ourselves is this; “Will I honor God with my obedience and actions regardless of what man thinks of me?” King David was a man who honored the Presence of the Lord above all and danced with ALL his might. The enemy tries to use intimidation as a roadblock to keep us from entering into our God-given destinies and purpose. Whether we are in a corporate setting, in the market place, or at home, He must be honored above all through obedience to His voice. (Psalm 111:10, Proverbs 19:23, Proverbs 22:4)
“Father, what You have to say is more important to us than any of the other voices that try to compete for our attention. That our hearts would be ready to hear, delight in, and obey the words that you speak to us. That we would be Your instruments of praise and conduits of power in this world. With all our loyalty to You, Mighty God!”
